The Fear Factor
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, But of power, love, and self-discipline.”
II Timothy 1: 7 (NLT)
“Then Jesus told them, I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith you will receive it.”
St. Matthew 21: 21 (NLT)
“. . . With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible”
St. Matthew 19: 26 (KJV)
Have you ever asked yourself why you don’t pray for certain things that you want or need? Is it because you do not feel you deserve them? Is it because you are afraid that the answer will be “no” and that you will not receive what you’re praying for?
When you think about it when we limit our prayers and what we ask God for and/or what we ask Him to do we are making an advance decision for God! A decision that we do not have the authority to make on His behalf! When we truly trust God with our life and everything pertaining to it, the major part of that trust is allowing Him to decide what is best for us. After all, we are His children and any good parent wants nothing but the very best for His child. Let’s look at it from another perspective . . . when you were a child did you ever tell your parent (or anyone else from that perspective), to limit the gifts they give you?
I believe that what’s really holding us back from praying to God for what we want is fear. Fear that we will not receive what we’re praying for. So, we go to God in timidity, which displays powerlessness. It is time to put into operation the power that we have been given by the Holy Spirit in every facet of our lives. If you are satisfied with a mediocre life, living in lack, resolved to accept whatever is handed to us, then a life void of abundance will be your lot.
However, since we serve a miracle working God, does it not make sense that He stands ready to perform miracles just for YOU! If we promise to honor the God of the miracle, then He is the One who ultimately gets the glory!
It is time now to start ASKING, TRUSTING, AND BELIEVING God for what seems impossible! I implore to launch out into the deep this week . . . what is it you have been AFRAID to ask God for? He’s ready to do it, are you ready to receive it?
