Stay High on His Wall
Have you ever come in contact with a person who feels that they must “one up” you every time they get the chance? I recognize that I have readers from other countries and maybe that statement doesn’t translate for you. Since the time that you were a child you probably know people who for whatever the reason cannot stand to see you blessed, advancing forward, getting something new, or achieving great accomplishments. It seems they just have to do something, buy something, or outdo you in some way, form, or fashion. It’s like a built in competitive spirit that drives them!
Well Satan is that way when it comes to how he feels about God and His children. The only difference is that Satan isn’t up to any good, he’s out to tear down, and destroy. St. John 10: 10 clearly demonstrates how God’s purpose and Satan’s purpose for each of us is so diametrically opposed to each other. “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” So you see as God is steadily blessing us and working in our favor, Satan is doing just the opposite. Satan wants to steal our dreams, kill our happiness, and destroy our future. While God wants us to have LIVE life in abundance! I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that Satan is keeping score to see how he can outperform God!
I am sure you have noticed some patterns in your life where you have blessings expected and unexpected in which you rejoice and praise God for. Then it seems like before your heart settles down from the adrenalin rush of the excitement and joy of your blessing, out of left field you’re hit with bad news, unexpected challenges, and difficulty. Why is that you ask? It’s because Satan and his demonic competitive spirit is always trying to “one up” God and outdo Him! The enemy is smart, but stupid enough that he hasn’t learned his lesson yet. God and His children will always come out on top and nothing he can do will defeat us. The word of God declares that we’re already victorious!
So what do we do? We don’t come down off the wall. When we’re “high” on God’s blessings and His Spirit that dwells within us, we have to maintain that position. I know it’s difficult but when those challenges hit, we cannot allow ourselves to sink to a level that makes us even more vulnerable to the enemy’s devices. Therefore, we have to stay on the wall.
- The wall of observance – In our joy, our excitement, our rejoicing, we have to keep our eyes and ears open. Endeavor to keep yourself and your loved ones “covered” in prayer and reverence to God. Always remain on the lookout! The adversary is never asleep or taking a vacation from his mission. We can outsmart him at his own game, because we are the children of the omnipotent God.
- The wall of defense – We have to stand ready to fight back with our weapons of the word and prayer. Not only must we defend ourselves, but our loved ones as well. The enemy delights when our guard is down for ANY reason.
