In God We Trust
There are many things we use in our everyday lives in which we submit “blind” trust. The chair you sit in, the car you drive, your limbs (arms/legs), your spouse and loved ones, etc. Christians who read the Word of God supposedly profess their trust. Even the dollar bills we use carry the imprint “IN GOD WE TRUST”. But how much do we REALLY trust God?
When I was called by God into ministry, one of the stipulations was that He would require transparency from me. I will say with all honesty that this has been a tall order, but in the words of my husband, “God has been kind.” With this personal mandate, I can say that He has never forsaken me nor allowed me to be ashamed. Having said that, I must tell you that worry was one of my biggest hurdles. I also know that if I am not watchful, the enemy will do everything he can to trap me again.
For many people, especially women, security is huge in our lives. For me it was not enough to be “okay” for today, I needed to know that next week, next month, and next year was going to be alright and how that was going to be achieved. That’s fine if you live your life predicated upon what you can control and accomplish, but it will never work if you are going to allow God to be in control. God’s Word is full of His promises to us, His children. But, He never promised that He would give an A to Z plan that would entail everything He will do for you. He did however, assure us that He would never leave us nor forsake us. You see God is the only One who WAS in our past, who IS in our present, and who HAS ALREADY GONE AHEAD and is waiting for us in our tomorrow! He is already there — and is waiting for us to arrive. So, since He is already there, the provision has already been made.
God doesn’t wait until our tomorrow comes to figure out how to sustain us. The sixth chapter of St. Matthew tells us that no amount of worrying will add even an hour to our lives, put food on our tables, on money in our pockets! It is all up to Him! Scientists and those who study animals and wildlife with as much knowledge as they have acquired, have never discovered that any animal worries about its life. They just live, trusting their maker to provide. In fact, it is their maker who gives them to ability to find what they need to live. Innately they just trust God explicitly for provision. I believe we also possess that innate ability, we just override it with our human intellect.
That’s the reason why following God’s purpose and plan for our lives is so critical to successful living. The foundation scripture of the church that my husband and I are blessed to pastor is II Samuel 22: 31 (KJV), “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.” God’s Way has already been tested and tried and proven to be perfect! So, trust me, He is not experimenting with what will or will not work for YOU! He is trying to assure us through His Word that He knows His plans will work! When we try to work out our own plans devoid of His will, then we’re the ones who are experimenting through trial and error! The King James version of the Bible has 134 verses that speak about “trust”.
I encourage you to research those scriptures and meditate on them. You cannot help but be blessed! I will close with a passage in Psalms that tells us that regardless of whether the outcome of our circumstance is what we anticipated or not, we will be able to rejoice for joy because of our love and trust for God!
“But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever
shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also
love thy name be joyful in thee. “
Psalm 5:11 (KJV)
